Jerry has served as the Township Manager of Cranberry Township, Butler County since 1991, a community of 30,000 residents. Cranberry is a full service community, providing public safety, public works, sewer, water, solid waste, parks and recreation, golf course and water park; library; along with community development. As the Township Manager he oversaw financial activities in excess of $100M annually and has led the Township to earn a Aaa financial rating from Moody’s. Jerry retired from this position in January 2021.
Immediately prior to Cranberry Jerry served as the Township Manager for Hampden Township, Cumberland County and prior to that served as their Assistant Manager, serving Hampden from 1983 through 1991. Immediately prior to Hampden Jerry held the position of Director of Parks and Recreation for Bensalem Township, Bucks County and prior to that served as the Director of Adult Education and Recreation for the Derry Area School District in Westmoreland County.
Jerry earned his bachelor’s degree and MPA from Penn State University.
Jerry is a member of the Association for Pennsylvania Municipal Management and a member of the International City/County Management Association. He is active with various local government associations and serves as an instructor, speaker and consultant on local government issues. He has served on various boards, including the Local Government Academy, Butler County Community Development Corporation, the Housing and Redevelopment Authorities of Butler County, the Butler County Tax Collection Committee and was the Treasurer/founding Board member of the Keystone Municipal Insurance Trust. He earned the Joseph A. James Excellence in Local Government Award from the Southwestern Pennsylvania Commission, the President’s Leadership Award from the Pennsylvania State Association of Township Supervisors and the Grassroots Government Leadership Award by the National Association of Towns and Townships.
Jerry lives in Cranberry Township, with his wife, Jan. He is also active in his church, Dutilh Church, where he has served in a variety of leadership roles along with being a Charter member of the Sunrise Rotary Club of Cranberry Township.
